What America learned about economics and politics in the last eight years?

What America learned about economics and politics in the last eight years?

Fighting for freedom and terror are prime ingredients in a democracy. Yet economic survival is a vital part of our existence.  So as we go through one of the greatest depressions in history and we look back in the events it will be hard to judge and pre-judge what went wrong.

Yet, some of the facts are very clear that we need to stop spending a $1 Million dollars a day (if the gossips are right) over a war, stop the political games of who to elect, why not to elect them and get the blaming syndrome every single day on the air waves.

Sometimes, it is really intriguing that with all the smartness of the experts how can a mere recession not be predicted and correctly theoretically evaluated.

It is a lot of hard work to master the economic indicators but yet acceptance may have been a big scenario on how we got to this mess.  While we take a step back and rethink the best alternatives to fix what needs to be fix and can perhaps learned from our past mistakes,.

What about foreign relations and diplomacy?  Was this ever an option we should have thought before we went to war?   Should we be looking for a commander in chief that has the guts to make huge “changes” for a new direction, someone who believes in foreign policy or someone who has the political experience and clout. All these questions are big discussion points right now but we have to consider each and every aspect as otherwise we are going back to square one again.

This no longer about either which party should be running Pennsylvania Avenue but who has the right leadership that will take America out of this mess.  Both of the adjectives used like “change and experience” are necessary to battle through what America has finally learned from the economics and politics in the last eight years.

The case today is like a bankruptcy receivership. The next president gets to deal with it, act fast and simultaneous, be very firm and decisive not to mention extremely open to ideas and criticisms.  On top of these are issues on housing, universal health care, social security and Medicare, and rising unemployment.  All caught in the magnitude of economic turmoil, credit crisis, foreclosures, bankruptcies and government bail outs.

Why do Entrepreneurs take risk to accomplish their dreams?

If you asked some entrepreneurs today, they would readily tell you that they were born as an entrepreneur and not just made one.

The way of entrepreneurship can sometimes start at a very early age in life.  Such characteristics are genetically inherent in the basic culture and foundation of an individual’s personality.

Over the years, my own experiences as being independent and having my own small business endeavors have been always my passion and the key to my own personal success, fulfillment and happiness.

Have tried working full time and part time questioning if entrepreneurship is the real way to go for my life’s purpose.

In spite the odds, trial and errors, with ot without mentors it always boils down to having that independence of working for myself and accomplishing ideals for the betterment of my family and community.

Recently,  because of the challenging times in our economic crisis, people will say that having mutliple streams of income is perhaps the way to survive.  However, we must always acknowledge what goes on in our personal lives, family, relationships and health.

Sometimes,  having other challenges might not be as easy as some might think as the key is not to lost focus on your primary niche or business idea.   It might not make sense right now but when you have studied it over and over through the years, we just have to stick to what we believe will work for us.

Money is a consequence need to stay in business but also does not drive the entrepreneur in achieving his or her dream alone.    The problem with our society is that we use entrepreneurism to inform and educate so that it can help create jobs, booze the economy, give credibility to government and at the same time be a business money making venture in itself for us.

We need to realize that our goals will be really successful if there is a continuity in our efforts. We might be able to teach the best business classes, show entrepreneurs how to make creative plans but how many in the end do really make it and how many fail after all the time we have spent in helping educate emergeing entrepreneurs?

These days, it is such hard to find an entrepreneur that will be ready to lost everything he has in order for his business to succeeed.   This spirit is the ultimate key to great leadership that we have to look for.  This people go into their dream businesses to achieve greater things not just for them but also for the community and society.

The challenge is how do we really support such individuals?  Perhaps, they might just need a certian ingredient, financial liquidity, support and reinforcements so they can really achieve their dreams.

Today’s entrepreneurial environment has change. It is no longer about having a high credit rating, collateral or financial capabilities, it is more about perseverance, the dare to risk everything and focusing to succeed in their dream.

California’s Day in Equality Liberation History – May 15, 2008

The California Supreme Court recently received an outstanding ovation from the GLBT community citing their “EQUALITY” efforts as a court of the people.

For some, it was a very emotional day celebrating the end of unequality on a democratic yet liberal state in America’s land of the people anthology.

A battle of argumentative deliberations still faces the allowing of same sex marriage in such a conservative state.  Yet, let us not forget to respect as well the beliefs of other people as how holy the embodiment of marriage is between a man and a woman.

However, to my minute understanding, this is besides the point. It is about the socio-cultural evolution of what makes a person’s existence to co-exist which is why we have been created in God’s liking and love.

Long live the dream, hopefully not a political tool but yet what this battle is all about.

May God Bless America, land of the people, a nation where dreams comes to realities.

Bush on Environment climate change – lameduck too late or not

President George Bush announced today his action plan on climate change. I believe he is really sincere in living a legacy behind like the rest of other American Presidents Roosevelt, Clinton, etc..,

However, a lot of environmentalist are also outrage that this might be a lame duck policy as just to put his name together with history files.

Well, for whatever it is the important thing is we are now realizing what the global environment changes has done to society.

That’s not to say, how oil prices has affected the economic downturn or the effects after years of enrichment by the oil barons.

It’s about time. A time to change from war and oil mentality yet not Obama’s save the elite culture but what is the working class all about. The unions and most of all the low income earners and those in poverty.

Save the planet and help us in our charities by supporting our mission at:

The Power of Green, Could Action on Climate Really Be Bush Legacy?

A president only becomes great by living a history behind. George Bush might be trying to leave his legacy at this point. Give him a chance yet the question lies is it too late than waltzing his holiness, The Pope. For Teddy Roosevelt it was the creation of our system of National Parks. For Richard Nixon it was the passage of landmark environmental reforms found in the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act. For Bill Clinton it was an eleventh-hour preservation of millions of acres of public lands.

Affordability for Limited Income Earners, the in thing these days!

Yes, thank God America is finally realizing what AFFORDABILITY is all about.
Not cheap, dirt cheap, not antiques neither expensive as a piece of art deco. Gone are days that people don’t understand value investing.
Why does it always take a recession for us to know that it is not how much we pay for advertising to entice the consumer. It is about reputation, creating value, positive thinking and even nowadays going Green.
All the discussions can be said about our mission of affordability but does it help me or you put food in our table? Or perhaps, too cheap to cost $0.01 and get what you deserve.
It’s not about what’s in your wallet, it is the value of what you get!
Long live to my fellow bloggers on creating things like the GNU org. and fighting for freedom of expression.

Yours truly,

Alex

My Message to Jerry and the Yahoo Board!

As we all know that Yahoo is currently undergoing enormous stress. Yet, as a small nobody and small shareholder like me, I have great admiration on Yahoo’s business model. But as an entrepreneur, we must know “timing” and question is it a time to sell or a time to hold on.
However, as a small home based low income business, we can save time with overhead, cutting costs and labor but let us not forget that ultimately our customers are our lifeblood. During the past years I have have stayed afloat I have learn to be frugal but you can only be frugal until such extent. Our employees are customers should not sufferis what we are all about anyways.

First, and foremost is we need to believe and take care of ourself and the business. Unfortunately, when a business becomes public there are investors will and a business climate to suffice. So my advice, is for us to cut our losses and sell at the best bargain.

However, our culture is still preserved and we will endure these together. As we shall be one together.

Join us in Pennsylvannia with Hillary

Dear Friend:
We are going to PA to campaign on Hillary’s behalf as a Pennsylvania HillStar! If there were ever a time to help with the campaign, it is NOW. Hillary needs our help in PA. Will you join me?
The campaign is asking for volunteers to travel to PA as Pennsylvania HillStars. They need our help every day between now and the primary, April 22. They will assign us a location and we will make our travel and accommodations accordingly. This is the best way we can help Hillary in these remaining days of the primary season. Volunteers are making the difference in this campaign. Let’s make history together!
We will be on the phones, canvassing, helping out at the polls and pitching in wherever we can. I hope and your friends will join us.
This is the kind of hands-on, grassroots effort that campaigns are made of! No political experience required – let’s do this together!

Amazon.com participates in Book Expo America in May 2008

Article Posted on Book Expo America Website: PRESS RELEASE
JEFF BEZOS TO PARTICIPATE IN BEA
CONFERENCE PROGRAM
Amazon.com Founder and CEO Will Present and Appear in Upfront & Unscripted
“Spotlight” Q&A with Chris Anderson
Norwalk, CT, March 12, 2008: Amazon.com Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos will take the
stage at BookExpo America (BEA) where he will present and appear in a special new
“Spotlight” edition of the popular Upfront & Unscripted (UU) interview series. Mr.
Bezos, who has participated in BEA once before in 2000 when he appeared as a keynote
speaker, will be interviewed by Chris Anderson, Editor-in-Chief of Wired Magazine.
BEA’s Upfront & Unscripted interviews have quickly become a highlight of conference
programming since they were introduced in 2006. The new “Spotlight” edition of this
series is being introduced to call attention to occasional interviews that deserve special
consideration because of their interest to the entire BEA audience. The interview
between Mr. Anderson and Mr. Bezos will take place on Friday, May 30 at 3:00pm in
Room 403AB at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
BEA organizers note that the addition of Mr. Bezos to convention programming
underscores BEA’s commitment to bringing all segments of the book industry together at
the annual event. “Amazon is a huge part of the book and publishing community and we
pride ourselves on representing the entire industry in one place,” notes Lance
Fensterman, Vice President and Show Manager for BEA. “Staging this exceptional
presentation by Mr. Bezos and the dialogue with Mr. Anderson to follow is a shining
example of the type of broad and timely conversation that we like to encourage at BEA.
We look forward to hearing about the progress of Kindle and Amazon’s growing digital
books business, as well other topics that not only apply to Amazon’s current and future
business but will touch on all areas of the book industry.”
Jeff Bezos, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Princeton University, is the President, Chief
Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Amazon.com which he founded in 1994,
after writing up a business plan on a cross country drive from New York to Seattle.
Amazon.com rapidly flourished and Mr. Bezos became one of the most prominent
dot.com entrepreneurs in the 1990’s, and was selected as Time Magazine’s Man of the
Year in 1999. As noted, Chris Anderson is the Editor-in-Chief of Wired Magazine which
has won a National Magazine Award under his tenure, and he is also the author of The
Long Tail: Why the Future of Business Is Selling Less of More.
“We seem to have good luck with Mr. Bezos at BEA,” Fensterman concludes. “The last
time he was with us was right after he appeared on the cover of Time Magazine as Man of
the Year and this time we have him right after the introduction of Kindle. Different
times, different circumstances, but this year’s appearance should be as fitting and
opportune as it was when we played host to him in 1999.”

Collecting Books as Hobby and Business

On a Young Entrepreneur speaking engagement I spoke, on an open forum preceded by being asked if I used a Book Scanner. Nowadays, book scanning is the high tech ingredient where you use your smart phone or blackberry integrated with a scanner. You scan the back of the book’s UPC, Bar Code or ISBN no.
My answer is that I do have the capability as it is a real cool Dundy tool must have. However, on another side, I come from the old school of being a book reader, collector, dealer and then seller.
A book for me is a tool and guide for information and learning. I started reading Hardy Boys and Marvel Comics by DC when I was five. Then I also did speed reading and took pilot (beta test) schooling at that time which is commonly known as home study. As an army brat, I had to go into different schools and start over, thank GOD for being a accelerated student then.
The different kinds and variations of books is not only interesting but for me makes the sense why I collect books as passion, hobby and business.
If you are like me to loves learning new things, romance, and adventure then books might be something to think about.
Coming from the old school, I look for the First Printing or First Editions and can easily tell if a rare book is a BCE or blind copy.
Another question is value because it is how a person perceives books. Why then did we come up with the business model of http://www.affordable-booksonline.com/
It is because the way I look for books is not to be to expensive that no one will buy it until you die or not too cheap as it was always a flea market style ( sounds familiar?).
Human factor is a big deal in the books business. Whether your bidding on ebay at user: affordable-books-and-things, at http://www.biblio.com/ user: ADLE International, an www.alibris.com/bookstores/affordable librarians or even the rare phenomena with ABE Books Exchange (AFFORDABLEBOOKS).
Not the less, if you love doing what you do and love charity and giving with http://www.biblioworks.com/ through us at http://www.adleinternational.com/
More Power and Success.
